To know Jimmy was to love him. He lived in College Hill for 57 years and attended Pleasant Hill Elementary, Campbell Jr. High and Aiken High School. Jimmy started his early career learning skill trades and was active in his union. He explored roofing work and while still working as a roofer he transitioned to attending barber school. He obtained his barber license and became a barber in the Cincinnati neighborhood of North Side at Hair Options. He worked various trade jobs over the years. He also worked at the Fernald Nuclear Plant.
Family, friends, and loyalty were important to Jimmy. He cared for and loved his family and friends deeply as they did him. He had many hobbies which included raising and breeding dogs, clothes, jewelry, cars, vintage cars and not to mention he was a DIE-HARD BENGALS FAN, WHO DEY!!! Jimmy loved watching cowboy movies and 60’s – 80’s reruns.
Jimmy was a loving caring father of two sons Rashad Sloan and James E. Lyons III (LJ).
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father James Edward Lyons Sr. and Mother Geraldine Lyons, sister Valeria Harlan (Shells), brother Raymone, 3 loving aunts Vivian Jones, Lee Sofer and Mary Coopwood, 5 uncles Peter Jones, Raymond Comer, Robert, Hubert and Odell Lyons and his loving cousin more like a sister Renee Jones.
He leaves an everlasting memory to all who knew him. He loves and cherish his two sons, Rashad Sloan and James E Lyons III (LJ); grandchildren, Rashad Sloan Jr. and Rashae Sloan; loving sisters Rachelle Shells, Jamie and Jenae Lyons; the elder of the family, his maternal uncle, John Monday; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
