Herschel Colbert Jr. was born on April 6, 1966 in Cincinnati, OH to Herschel Colbert Sr. and Delores J. Colbert. Herschel was educated in the Cincinnati Public Schools system and graduated from Aiken High School where he earned his high school diploma and excelled in sports, especially baseball.
Herschel was passionate and dedicated to his career as an Instructing Operator for Metro for 26 years. He truly loved being around his Metro family. In his pastime, he enjoyed watching sports (Cincinnati Reds & Pittsburgh Steelers) and listening to music while enjoying an adult beverage. Herschel was known to be generous and would not hesitate to give you the shirt off his back, if needed. He loved cooking soul food meals and prided himself on being self-reliant. Hopefully you were fortunate enough to experience one of his thought provoking conversations along with his witty sense of humor. Herschel loved his family deeply and looked forward to attending the family gatherings.
Herschel was preceded in death by his mother, Delores J. Colbert; grandmother, Mildred Shaw; grandfathers, James Mason and Anthony Shaw Sr.; son, Tre’ Herschel Colbert; aunts, Malinda Shaw and Ernestine Grimes; and cousin, James Lee. He leaves loving and cherished memories in the hearts of his father, Herschel Colbert Sr.; sisters Kimberly Colbert and Linda Norman; son, Quenndy Colvin; nephew, Ricky Pugh; great nieces, Za’Riyah Higgins and Amani Pugh; aunt, Barbara Jordan; uncles, James Shaw and Anthony Shaw Jr.; cousins, Gregory, Anthony, Angela, Michael, Andre, Jason, Stephanie and Teri; and a host of relatives and friends.
