On the wings of grace, strength, and unrelenting faith, Frances Yuvonne Irby peacefully transitioned to her eternal place with God, almighty, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
Beloved mother to Rufus Vernon Irby III, Paula Irby-Lee (Albert), and Iris Irby-Richardson (Samuel), doting grandmother to Wanyla White-Bezaiz (Said), Petey Irby, Tatiana Irby-Anthony (Evan) and Iyanla Irby, and proud great grandmother to Zayn Valentino and Nayz Vittorio Bezaiz, Amri Susana Frances Anthony, and Maximiano Vernon Maxime she leaves a tremendous void that cannot be filled.
“Von”, as she was endeared, was born March 26, 1938, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Frances and James Eves. As the second oldest of eleven children, she was a natural caregiver and nurturer whose passion for children led her to seek a career in childhood development. She was an undeniably cerebral young woman who loved to learn and teach and who believed that education and knowledge were integral to a fulfilling life. Earning a degree in early childhood development, she went on to teach children with special needs, enriching the lives of so many.
In 1957, she entered into holy matrimony with Rufus Vernon Irby Jr. at Saint Richard of Chichester Catholic Church, living a life of devotion to each other, their family, and the Lord.
Raised in the catholic church, she was a parishioner of Saint Joseph Catholic Church and eventually became a faithful member of First Baptist Church of West College Hill. Her faith was among her most notable qualities.
She was a woman of immense strength, will, and character who lived to love. Her life was the picture of service to her family, to which she brought much joy and a lifetime of cherished memories. She is remembered for her humor, her self-branded colloquialisms, her love of dance, and her blinding beauty, inside and out.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus, her sisters Alice and Vanessa, and her brother, James. She leaves behind her three children, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four sisters (Mary, Victoria, Rosalin, and Susan), three brothers (Lawrence, William, and Joseph), and a host of other relatives and friends.
To say that she will be missed falls ever short of the truth. The only comfort is knowing that she is resting happily with the Lord, our God.
