Ethel L. Williams was born on January 5, 1925, to the union of the late Henry and Vada Barnwell. She departed this life on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Vitas Hospice.
Ethel was one of 11 children. Educated in Hiram, Georgia, she earned her diploma from Hiram High School.
She met Artie Lee Williams, Sr. in Hiram, Georgia and they married in 1945. Artie preceded her in death. To this union, 10 children were born: Alphonso, Janice, Artie Jr., Deborah, Rebecca, Pamela, Michael, Gregory, Jerome and Timothy. Both Janice and Michael preceded her in death.
Ethel worked at Glass Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide for many years. After which, she became a flower designer at Louis Floral Shop.
She leaves to cherish her memories: eight children, Alphonso, Artie Jr. (Hattie), Deborah (Melvin), Rebecca (Dwight), Pamela, Gregory, Jerome and Timothy; long-time friend and companion, Thomas Bell; two sisters, Erma Heard and Carolyn Sexton; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
