Ella Bernice Brown was born to the late Eugene Litmon and Ella Hill Litmon on February 22, 1917 in Athens, Georgia. When she was born, her mother said she looked like a little doll. The name stayed with her and the family called her “Auntie Doll.”
Ella was a devoted wife to Major Charles Bernard Brown for 48 years, until his passing on January 13, 1995.
She was a member of A.M.E. Zion Church where she was in charge of records. She retired from Internal Revenue where she was a Tax Examiner.
Ella loved to travel. She had traveled all around the world due to her husbands mili- tary status.
She was devoted to her family and always put their interests first. She was a prayer war- rior and a devoted member of her church.
Ella loved to laugh and enjoyed life, touching the lives of many during her time here with us.
She was a beautiful and generous woman, filled with dignity.
Auntie Doll departed this life March 7, 2015 at the age of 98, in San Jose, California.
Though deeply saddened by the loss, we remain joyful that she is resting in the bosom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. May she rest in eternal and heavenly peace.
She leaves to forever cherish her memory: nieces and nephews, Arthur Gore, Samuel J. Dula, Jr., Elisa Howard, Roderick Dula, Denise Myrick, Dannielle McKennon, Sanford Dula and Charles K. Moss; a long time family friend, Mr. Larry A. Compkins of San Jose, California; and a host of family and friends, great nieces and great nephews.
