Elbert Lee Daniels was born April 13, 1927, at 1256 Behles Street in Lincoln Heights, Ohio. He went home to glory on February 14, 2025. He was the fourth of seven children born to Howard and Kerlia Daniels. He was baptized at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church at a young age.
Elbert, fondly known as Ebb graduated from Lockland Wayne High School class of ‘45. He attended Tennessee State University for a year, playing basketball until medical issues forced him to leave. One of Ebb’s favorite jobs was working for C&O Railroad. He would talk often about working for the railroad because he loved to travel. He also worked for Hamilton Foundry. In 1951 Ebb began working for General Electric. He retired from G.E. in 1987 at the age of 60.
In 1950 Ebb married his sweetheart Louise Hariett Green. Together they had five sons. Ebb was known for many things. Among them was his community activism. Considering the recent events that just transpired with the Neo Nazi demonstration in Lincoln Heights, he would have been front and center in the fight. Ebb served as a Volunteer Fireman, a Councilman, Mayor, Auditor and on the Lincoln Heights Board of Education. One of Ebb’s hobbies was that he loved to video any event his family members participated in, especially his children or grandchildren. If you were at an event not only does Ebb have it on film somewhere, but he has made copies and distributed them to other family members for their viewing.
One of our favorite family memories of Ebb was every Thanksgiving, as long as his health allowed, he would purchase turkeys to pass out to every family member and some friends. He would drive to Harrison Ohio, select live turkeys, wait for them to be freshly butchered and prepared in order to give away.
Ebb was a faithful member and at one time Past Master of Pride of the Valley Lodge #95. He was their oldest living member. During the POV #95 annual luncheon, an award has been established as The Elbert Daniels Past Masters of the Year Award.
Ebb’s sisters and brother; Howard, Geneva, Ruby, Loraine, Bernice and Bernett have all preceded him to Glory. Ebb’s wife Louise, who he was married to for 53 years along with two sons; Michael and Elbert Alan and one grandson Keenan also went home to be with The Lord ahead of him. Ebb, who was a strong advocate for the Daniels Family Reunion had a great reunion as he entered heaven this past Valentine’s Day. Ebb leaves to rejoice and celebrate over his life three sons; Thomas/Bubbie (Miriam), Daryl/DA (Yonce), David/Dusty (Carmen), daughter in law, Kim Daniels; seven grandchildren; Michael Jr., Sookie Michelle, Kiffin, Kandice, Erik, Daronce, and Myntia, fifteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, a special niece, Karin Fowler and a host of relatives and friends.
