Edna Bowens

Edna R. (Robbins) Bowens became absent from the
body and present with the Lord on Saturday, October 22,
2011 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born to the union of the late
Ben and Vestula Robbins in South Carolina on January 4,
1913, Edna was the youngest girl of 11 children who preceded
her in passing.
She decided to commit her life to the Lordship of Jesus
Christ and became a faithful member for over 50 years at
Friendship Baptist Church in Gastonia, North Carolina.
She was united in holy matrimony to William Bowens.
To this union, four children were born: Dorothy, Hazel,
Callie and the late Willie Mae (Barnett). He preceded her
in passing.
What a wonderful thing to have Edna touch our lives,
share our dreams and enrich our souls. She was loved and
respected by everyone who knew her and the memory of
her will be forever in our hearts. She loved her family and
friends very much.
Edna will be greatly missed by her family, and leaves to
cherish her precious memory: her loving daughters,
Dorothy Martin, Hazel (Emmett) Williams and loving
son, Callie (Carol) Bowens. She is also survived by 14
grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and five great-greatgrandchildren;
and a host of family and friends.
