Born Eddie Augusta Davis on October 2nd, 1958 to Noah Linkford Davis Sr. and Lucille Epps Davis in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. He was the fifth of nine sons growing up surrounded by the strength and bond of a large family. Living on the family farm gave him and his brothers a chance to see and do hard work before it even mattered. Once it did, he held jobs like driving the local school bus and working at the sawmill.
After graduating from Weldon High School in 1976, he went on to attend the North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. It was an easy choice, after watching all of his older brothers make the same decision. During college he worked as a technician at Orkin and even waited tables at Jefferson Standard Country Club and T.K. Tripps. Upon finishing college, he had the opportunity to move to New Orleans, Louisiana or Cincinnati, OH to pursue his career. Choosing the latter was the beginning of something so much bigger… something so special.
Eddie’s expertise in mechanical engineering would play a huge role in designing jet engines for GE Aerospace (formally GE Aviation & GE Aircraft Engines of the General Electric Company). His career spanned decades, just like his marriage to the love of his life, Belinda. They married May 17th, 1986 and gave their first daughter, Mileah, two sisters, Carli & Gabrielle.
Eddie retired in 2016 with plans to start his own businesses and to enjoy retirement surrounded by his loved ones. Unfortunately, an outpatient surgery didn’t go as planned. He was unable to travel or to do most of the things he had been so used to doing. But, that didn’t take away from the love and care he gave. He spent the next 10 years still leading, protecting, and providing for his family. Something that will forever be priceless!
Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Noah Linkford Davis Sr., and his brother, Noah Linkford Davis Jr. He leaves behind his wife of nearly 40 years, Belinda Davis; his daughters, Mileah (Kenny), Carli (Aaron), and Gabrielle; six grandchildren, Kaliyah, Carlecya, Javiair, Aa’Cari, Roman, and Zirah; his mother, Lucille Davis; 7 brothers, Ernest (Brenda), Robert Elmo, Wallace (Vanessa*), Andrew (Bernetta), William (Kim), Noah Ellis (Germaine), and Robert Lowe; a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends.
There are some men who simply exist in this world…And then there are men who build foundations. Eddie Augusta Davis was not just a father — he was a provider, a protector, a steady presence, and the definition of strength wrapped in quiet love. The kind of man who didn’t always have to say much, because his actions spoke louder than words ever could.
Eddie built his life around family. Around responsibility. Around doing what had to be done — even when it wasn’t easy. Especially when it wasn’t easy. Eddie carried himself with grit and grace. He showed love in the way he worked, in the way he showed up, in the way he stood firm. He taught lessons not just with words, but with examples. Strength. Discipline. Loyalty. Faith. Resilience.
To his children, he was more than “Dad.” He was safety. He was structure. He was the man whose presence alone made things feel secure. He leaves behind a legacy that will not fade — a legacy woven into the character, drive, and determination of his family. His daughters carry his strength in their ambition. His grandchildren carry his spirit forward in their laughter and fire. His love remains rooted in every decision made with purpose.
He taught us how to stand tall… How to keep going… How to build something that lasts. Even in grief, we honor him not just with tears — but with action. With forward motion. With the kind of resilience he lived every day. Because that’s what he would want. He may have laid down his earthly burdens, but his foundation remains. And from that foundation, we rise.
Forever loved. Forever respected. Forever the root of something so much bigger.
