Earnestine S. Brown “Tee” was born on June 19, 1935 in
Monroe, Louisiana. She was one of four children born to
the late Arthur Lee and Alzona Smedley, who preceded
her in this life. She leaves behind one living sister, Virginia
Palms and two siblings that preceded her in life, Mattie
Mosley and John Smedley. She also has two living sistersin-
law, Virgil Smedley and Myrtle Thorpe; one uncle,
Richard Bradford and one aunt, Fern Rivers.
On November 28, 1953, Earnestine married the love of
her life, Homer L. Brown, Sr., who preceded her in 2004.
Their union endured 50 wonderful years and they were
blessed with five sons: Gerald Patterson, Michael
(Rosalin) Brown, Homer Brown, Jr., Kenneth (Janet)
Brown, William Brown and one stepson, Diego Villas; and
a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Earnestine enjoyed a variety of music, sewing, cooking,
and hanging out with her family. She never met a stranger
and was quick to give to people when in need. She was
given the gift of wisdom and she would share it with
everyone she encountered. However, God was the head of
her life and it showed throughout her stride. To know
Earnestine was to know a true sweetheart. She could make
you laugh and help you cry. Mom’s favorite sayings were,
“Oh well, it is what it is and you learn to deal with it.”
Earnestine was born, raised, and lived in a sea of love.
