Dorothy Jane Copeland, born September 3, 1933 in Richmond, Kentucky to William Travis and Mabel Maupin. She later married Joe Copeland of 40 years. She was known as a great baker and a great seamstress, who loved to style and profile. She also had a passion for quartet singers like the Canton Spirituals and singing of Lee Williams.
She and Joe joined New Mission 35 years ago under the leadership of the Dr. Robert Smith Jr., now under Pastor Tracey E Ventus.
Sister Copeland was preceded in death by 3 children: George, Georgianna and William, 8 grandchildren: Robert, Courtney Miko, Tremell, Trey, Nanisha, Nykia and Trevion.
Sister Copeland leaves 6 children: Jean Williams (Garey), Dorothea Ware (Charles), Edward Jones (Joyce), Henrietta Moore (Lamont), Wenell Jones and Marie Rucker; 23 Grandchildren: Tommika, Ricky, Marcus, Butch, Teinesha, Romie, Sedrick, Jay, Shawntae, Perry, Ronnie, Tyler, Misha, Keon, Mel, Mont, Dominique, Cherise, Jennifer, Marlene, Shannon, William, Wink, Boo, and Pooh; 67 Great Grand Children; and 12 Great-Great Grand Children.
Sister Copeland, Wife, Mama, Friend, and Grandma will be missed by her family.
