Dorothy Jean Allmond was born January 3, 1944, in Hamilton Ohio to the proud parents of the late James Ramsey and Magnolia (Washington) Ramsey. She went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the age of 81.
The Early Years:
Dorothy spent her early years in Cleveland Ohio, with her Beloved Aunt Velma and Uncle Freeman Ramsey. While in Cleveland she formed a special bond with two dear cousins (Jan and Leila) who were like sisters to her. She enjoyed spending time between Cleveland and Hamilton. Later she returned to Hamilton Ohio to be with her parents and 8 siblings. She completed her formal education and graduated from Garfield High School in 1963.
A Path Of Faith:
Dorothy Loved the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized. She faithfully served as a lifelong member at Israel Baptist Church in various ministries including: The Voices of Israel, WizKids, Kids for Christ, and the Keenagers just to name a few.
Her Professional Journey:
Dorothy’s first job was at Fort Hamilton Hospital as a Candy Striper; then continued to other various places of employment prior to starting her career at General Electric Aviation. While at GE she served as “The Inspector 39”, Level 21, and a Union Steward for the local UAW 647, and later retired in 2001 after 33 years of employment. She was a true Trailblazer.
All Things Dorothy (“Mykee”):
Dorothy had a Strong and Humble Spirit, with an Unwavering Love for Family & Friends. She adored her daughters, her son in-laws who she considered her sons, and her granddaughters. She served as a dedicated President of the Ramsey-Washington Hamilton Reunion Chapter for numerous years. She also had a true passion for getting to know people, and imparting knowledge and words of wisdom to all she came in contact with. If there was ever a need she was always there to give care without reservations.
She loved living life and having fun. She enjoyed various genres of music, dancing, singing, and she found peace in cooking. Throughout Dorothy’s life she has always enjoyed being a part of various social groups. As a teenager she was a lead singer of an all-girl group called the Aqua Teens. In her early adulthood she held esteem positions in the Eastern Stars, was a part of the Forest Park Women’s Club, and involved in the creation of the Incentive Social Club.
Dorothy was married to Garret Richard for twelve years; during that union they had two loving children Jerrylena and Juanita. Years later, while working at General Electric she met the love of her life, Sam H. Allmond Jr. In 1978, they married and through that marriage the family expanded, gaining sons and daughters; celebrating 43 blissful years. Together they loved traveling to distant lands, and loved watching their favorite football team, the Bengals. And their greatest joy was having long talks & spending quality time with each other.
