Dorothy M. Howard, daughter of Lenza and Susie Morgan was born on March 24, 1942 in Tuskegee, Alabama. She was called from labor to reward on August 13, 2015.
Dorothy moved to Middletown, Ohio with her family at a very young age. She was a cheer-leader at Middletown High School where she was a graduate of the Class of 1960. On November 4, 1961, Dorothy married the love of her life — George Howard, Jr. From this union were born two sons: George III and Paul. Dorothy and George shared 53 years of marital bliss and enjoyed every minute of their lives together.
Dorothy was the owner and operator of Dot’s Beauty Salon, which opened in 1979. She worked tirelessly for her faithful clients for many generations.
Dorothy was a devoted member of Bethel A.M.E. Church where she enjoyed working under great leadership, Ruth Howard. She was a faithful member of the choir singing under the guidance of her mother, Susie Morgan. She served as the Young People’s Department Director for a number of years. Dorothy loved working with the youth, always attending Tawawa as a chaperone. She also served as the President of the Women’s Missionary Society for many years. She was recently designated a Life Member of the Connectional Women’s Missionary of the A.M.E. Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lenza and Susie Morgan; sisters, Christine Brooks and Ruth Ezell; mother and father-in- law, George Sr. and Ruth Howard; brothers-in-law, James and Steve Howard; sisters-in-law, Helen Lois Johnson and Nancy Morgan.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, George Howard, Jr.; two sons, George Howard III (Elise) and Paul J. Howard (Latrice); three brothers, Josiah Morgan, Willie Morgan (Ella) and Robert Morgan; grandmother of five and great-grandmother of one; brothers-in-law, Scott Clem Howard (Sharon) and Rufus Brooks (Regina); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
