Mrs. Dollie Mae (Munlin) Martin, daughter of the late Johnnie Munlin and Mattie (Dugger) Munlin, was born on September 6, 1919 in Statesboro, Georgia. She passed away peacefully in her sleep in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family.
Dollie attended Bennett Grove Public School in Statesboro, Georgia where she played basket-ball and ran track. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Banks Creek Primitive Baptist Church, located in Statesboro, Georgia. She moved to Glendale, Ohio at the age of 18 years and united with Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Lincoln Heights, Ohio. Dollie was employed as a Nurse’s Aide for many years at hospitals and nursing homes in Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio.
“Mommy-Dear” as she was affectionately called by her grand and great-grandchildren, was a great storyteller, and she kept us laughing at some of her stories. She loved to have her grandchildren around her. Dollie truly loved and had great faith in the Lord. She always told her children to pray and put our trust in him.
Dollie was preceded in death by husbands, Paul Saturday, Cornish Summerlin and Harding Martin. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Foy, Levi, Londro, Loys, Willie and Morgan Munlin; three sisters, Ora Mae Woods, Irene Vann and Inell Williams; one grandson and one great-grandson.
She is survived by: three daughters, Marilyn (Roy-deceased) Brooks, Virginia (Jerome) Ingram and Julia Dunigan; three sons, Cornish (Emma) Summerlin, Wentford (Victoria) Summerlin and Charles (Diana) Summerlin; one brother, Osben Munlin; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
