Delores Butler (Ruffin) was born August 25, 1927 to the late Junior Ruffin and Mabel Ruffin. Delores was the young-est of two children. Her brother, Louis preceded her in death.
Delores joined the New Jerusalem Church as a child. She later graduated from Choctaw County Training School in 1947. That same year, she married Julian Baskin and they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. Their union produced five children: Doris (Fred), the late Osey (Johnnie Mae), Donald (Janie), Vanessa and Desseree (Charlie ? Earl). Afterwards, she joined the First Baptist Church of West College Hill, where she remained a member until death.
Delores worked at Xavier University for 40 years, until her retirement. She loved playing bingo, cards and spending time with her family and friends. She is noted for her legendary cookouts, family and holiday dinners. She will be greatly missed and leaves to mourn: three daughters, a son, a special cousin, 11 first cousins, 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, one step-great-grandson, one son-in-law, two daughters-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews.
