Ms. Deborah Jeanne “Deb” (Tidwell) Tucker, affectionately known as Debbie to many, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, in Duluth, Georgia, at the age of 76.
Born on April 19, 1949, in Dayton, Ohio, Deborah was the beloved daughter of Forrest J. Tidwell and Thelma (Mitchell) Tidwell. She was raised in a home filled with love and warmth and graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in the class of 1967. She later pursued studies at Central State University.
Deborah built a long and fulfilling career with American Airlines, Inc., where she worked for many years before retiring in 2017. Her time with the airline not only reflected her strong work ethic but also aligned perfectly with her adventurous spirit. Often described as a “gypsy,” Deborah had a love for travel that took her to many corners of the world—her next destination always a delightful surprise to those who knew her.
A spirited and kind-hearted woman, Deborah had an infectious smile that could light up any room. She cherished time spent with family and found joy in life’s simple pleasures—visiting local farmers markets and Whole Foods, browsing thrift stores for hidden treasures, and engaging with her community.
Her commitment to service extended beyond her professional life. For many years, she volunteered at the American Legion Post 328, offering her time and energy to support veterans and their families. One of her proudest moments came when she attended the Tuskegee Airmen Institute and had the honor of meeting one of the last surviving airmen—a memory she held dear.
In 2024, Deborah completed the Gwinnett County 101 Citizen Academy, where she deepened her understanding of local government and connected with fellow residents. Her dedication earned her recognition as “most reliable,” a testament to her dependable nature and genuine interest in civic engagement.
Deborah’s legacy lives on through her loving daughter Tracey Tucker; sister Ann Woodfork; grandsons Andre’ Sherrill Jr. and Ferrod Gardner; great-granddaughter Kaliyah Sherrill-King; and nephews, Jason Woodfork (Teri), Terrence Tidwell, and Jermaine Woodfork. She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest J. Tidwell, Sr., and Thelma (Mitchell) Tidwell, and brother, Forrest J. Tidwell, Jr.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
