Cynthia Marsh (née Allen) was born on January 7, 1979, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Michelle Allen and Gary McDay. She departed this life on March 2, 2025, at the young age of 45.
Cynthia’s life was filled with cherished moments, especially those spent with her beloved grandmother, Mary Crawford, who played a pivotal role in her upbringing. From her grandmother, Cynthia learned invaluable life lessons such as respect, independence, trust, and the art of cooking. These lessons shaped her into the strong, independent woman she became.
Cynthia attended Cincinnati Public Schools and graduated from Western Hills High School in the class of 1997. Following high school, she pursued higher education at Cincinnati State, where she obtained an Associate’s Degree in Business Management.
Throughout her career, Cynthia held various positions, showcasing her versatility and dedication. She worked at Lazarus, now known as Macy’s, the Cincinnati Enquirer, Walgreens as a pharmacy technician, the Unemployment Office as a claim processor, Humana in customer service, and most recently at Jobs and Family Services. Cynthia was known for her vibrant personality and love for dancing. She would often be the life of the party, dancing with joy and living life to the fullest.
Cynthia was a true fighter. She was first diagnosed with cancer in October 2021 and was given six months to live in the second half of 2022. Despite this prognosis, Cynthia demonstrated remarkable strength and resilience. In December 2022, she took the courageous step of planning her own funeral at Thompson Hall & Jordan, ensuring that her loved ones, especially Erik, would not have any worries.
Even as she battled cancer, Cynthia never stopped living her life to the fullest. She celebrated her 43rd birthday in style, dressed in all purple, in January 2023. Her engagement to Erik turned into a beautiful marriage in April 2023. The couple continued to enjoy life, traveling to Punta Cana in April 2023 and most recently, taking a memorable trip to the Bahamas with her son E’mani during the summer.
