Criss M. Wilson was born on April 4, 1955 to Sarah F. Greenwood and James W. O’Neal in Williamsburg, Virginia. Criss was the eldest of six child- ren. Due to illness, she departed this life on May 30, 2015. Both her parents and brother, Darin Greenwood preceded her in death.
Criss was educated in the Middletown Public Schools and received her diploma in 1973 from Middletown High School. She was raised alongside four brothers and one sister. She helped her mother care for her siblings and was thought of as a second mother. She took on that responsibility without complaint.
She entered the workforce in 1973, starting out as a hostess at Cambridge Inn Restaurant, where she met the love of her life, Kenneth. On June 11, 1977, the two were united in marriage and from this union were born three children, Kenneth Wilson II, Danielle (Wilson) Jones and Timothy O. Wilson. Criss always had a love for children, so she entered the daycare field in 1989. The parents always found a way to show their appreciation and treated her as if she was part of their family. Due to a decline in health, she retired from Abilities First in 2005.
Criss was known to have a giving heart. If anyone was in need, she was right there to help. She was a second mother to many and she was always thinking about others before herself. She was known as “little Criss” and “Mrs. Criss” to family and friends. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grand- children. She was always there for special events and she loved to root them on at their sporting activities. Her kindness, encouraging words and kinship will be deeply missed.
Criss leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Kenneth Wilson, Sr.; two sons, Kenneth II (Destiny) and Timothy Wilson; one daughter, Danielle (Kendal) Jones; her five grandchildren, Kenneth III, Kaliah and Kamiah Wilson, James and Josiah Jones; three brothers, Mike Greenwood, James (Melinda) Greenwood and Kenny (Jacqueline) Greenwood; one sister, Dionne Greenwood; two aunts, Thelma Payne and Louise Love; a special friend, Margaret Martin; a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
