Clarence Douglas Davis, Sr. was born on January 20, 1938 in Harlan County (Lynch), Kentucky to the late Ernest Davis and Lillie Dee Davis. He and his six siblings (who preceded him in death) were all raised by the late Gertie Mae Davis after Lillie’s death.
Clarence moved to Covington, Kentucky to pursue his job as an Orderly (Nurse Assistant) for St. Charles Nursing Home and Care Center, where he later retired after forty plus years of service.
On June 20, 1959, Clarence married his high school sweetheart, Sallye Mae Pettygrue. To this union, five children were born.
Clarence enjoyed fishing with his friends, sons and grandsons. He enjoyed fishing most of all, but he also loved cooking and baking.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his lovely and devoted wife, Sallye Mae Davis; three sons, Clarence (Deana) Davis, Jr. of Maryland, Phillip E. Davis of Arkansas and Steven A. Davis of Covington; two daugh- ters, Christina Davis of Covington and Granada (Jeré) Higgins of Atlanta, Georgia; a devoted sister, Rethia (James) Grady of Detroit, Michigan; seven grandchild- ren, seven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, neph- ews, cousins, friends and “special fishing buddies.”
