Brenda Louise Hicks affectionately known as “Poo” was born December 11, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the 2nd child of the late Bernard Jackson Sr. and Louise Black. She was preceded in death by her stepfather Herman Williams; brothers, Bernard Jackson, Jr. and Benjamin Jackson; and husband of 53 years, James E. Hicks.
Brenda accepted Christ at an early age attending the Old Beulah Baptist Church in the West End. She attended Withrow High School and graduated in 1957. She worked at Longview Hospital as a dietician. Then she became employed at Strietmann Bakery which later became Keebler Company. Her time of employment at Keebler was 50 years.
Brenda was an avid boxing enthusiast who also found joy in bowling, playing Pokeno, and playing cards. She had a passion for cooking and cherished every moment spent with her family and friends. Above all, she adored her grandson, Lionel “Lonnie” Brisco Jr., who held a special place in her heart. Brenda’s sweet tooth was as vibrant as her personality, which perfectly matched her cheerful spirit.
Brenda leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Denise (Reggie) Clay; son, James (Latonya) Hicks; grandsons, Lionel (Tamika) Brisco Jr., Ramon Brisco, and Yahshem Hicks; granddaughters, Na’Amiyah Gooden and Christian Daniel; 11 great grandchildren, and a host of friends and relatives.
