Arthur Paul Johnson was born on November 3, 1937, in Point Fortin, Trinidad, to Zena Cummings and Waldron Johnson. Proud of his Caribbean roots, Arthur carried with him a deep sense of integrity, humility, and devotion to family throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, George Charles and Michael Charles, and his sisters, Pearl Gopi and Merle Rivas.
Arthur leaves behind the love of his life and devoted wife, Jacqueline Johnson. Their marriage was a true partnership—built on love, loyalty, and laughter. To know Arthur was to know that Jacqueline was his heart and his greatest source of joy.
He is also survived by his sisters, Anthea, Donna, and Janice Johnson; his brothers, Peter and Tony Johnson; his children, Paul Johnson, Arthur Johnson Jr. (Nichole), and Dr. Cheryl Keel (Larry); and his cherished grandchildren, Kaya, Mattea, Isabella, Sophia, Kalyn, Camryn, Aaryn, and Calib. Nothing brought Arthur more happiness than time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were his pride and delight.
Arthur’s journey took him from Boys School in Trinidad to Canada and eventually to New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from NYU. Later, he and Jacqueline settled in Cincinnati, where he pursued his entrepreneurial dreams by founding Hallmark Custom Draperies—a business he successfully led until retirement.
Arthur’s legacy, however, goes far beyond his career. He was a man of many talents: a gifted photographer who captured life’s beauty with depth and emotion, and a skilled woodworker whose creations reflected his patience, precision, and artistry. Every project he undertook was infused with care and creativity, much like the life he lived.
Those who knew Arthur knew his unwavering character—a man of honesty, steadiness, and kindness. He found joy in simple pleasures: tending to his ten bird feeders, exploring new places, and sharing his home with cats who adored him. Above all, his heart belonged to his family, who gave him purpose and happiness every day.
Arthur was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His values and passion for life, live on in the family he loved so deeply. Though his presence will be profoundly missed—especially by his beloved Jacqueline—his light and legacy will continue to shine through all who were fortunate to know him.
Arthur’s life was a story of faith, family, and creativity, a life well-lived, a love well-shared, and a heart that will never be forgotten.
