Adolphus Lynn, Jr. was born on September 26, 1934 to the union of Adolphus “King” Lynn, Sr. and Ruby Cash- Wooten. He was the oldest child and brother to three sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Chisholm, Betty Jean “Jeannie” Lynn and Barbara Ann Lynn. He grew up in Cincinnati and attended Cincinnati Public Schools where he graduated from Withrow High School.
Adolphus is affectionately called “Brownie” because he had curly brown hair. After high school, he joined the Army and was a clerk typist and could type over 100 words per minute. While in the service, Brownie was stationed in Europe and when had leave traveled to different cities there. When he returned home Brownie joined the world of work. He worked at AVCO Electronics where he became reacquainted with Charlesetta Boisseau whom he knew from the Laurel Homes. He earned a certificate in TV repair and had his own repair service, Lynn TV Repair. Brownie also attended the Ohio College of Applied Science where he earned two associate degrees, one for Computer Science and the other in accounting. Brownie retired three times. He first retired from the IRS, then the United States Post Office, and last the Community Action Agency all of them as a Computer Programmer.
In 1967, Brownie married Charlesetta New (nee Boisseau) and became a great father to her two daughters, Norma Cheryl New and Marcia Renee’ New.
Brownie had a kind and generous spirit. He helped many people whether in his family, friends, church, or work. Brownie was baptized by Pastor Yates at the Union Baptist Church in Cincinnati, OH where he has served on the trustee board, media ministry, and attended Sunday School.
He was a member of the Friendship Unlimited Social Club for many years traveling together and meeting once a month. He was an avid speed reader, reading large manuals in record timing while understanding all concepts. He was a lover of family and enjoyed hosting and spending time with family and friends over the years at his home with his wife, Charlesetta. In his past time, Brownie enjoyed staying up to date with technology and owned at least two of every electronic he liked. Brownie spent his last years at Bridgeway Pointe Assisted Living Facility where he was happy dancing and singing to the oldies with all the staff.
Brownie departed this life on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 6:55 a.m. Brownie was preceded in death by his parents King and Ruby Lynn, his wife of 33 years, Charlesetta, his daughter, Marcia Renee’ Payne, his sisters, Dorothy Chisholm and Betty Jean Lynn, and his nephew, Ronald Reginald Lynn.
Brownie leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Norma Cheryl New, his sister, Barbara Ann Lynn, nephews, Dale Keith “Chuckie” Lynn and Gregory Lynn, nieces, Terri Lynn, Adrienne “Vikki” Pogue (Jerome Dallas), Amber Norman (Benny), grandchildren, Shannon Jackson (Jamila) and Raven Spratley (Richard), great-grandchildren, Jaden Richardson, Shane Britton, Nathan Jackson, Isabella Jackson, Josiah Spratley, Raina Spratley, and Messiah Spratley and a host of family of friends.
