Gennie Mae Ford was born to the union of the late
Genie Ford and Nettie Ranford-Ford on May 22, 1939 in
Unidilla, Georgia.
Gennie was the first of two children, preceded in death
by her brother, Roy Ford.
Gennie accepted Christ at an early age at Galilee Baptist
Church and continued to serve, sing in the choir, and
grew in the Lord at Galilee under the late J.C. Scruggs to
present, Rev. Allen Middleton.
Gennie Mae attended Withrow High School. She graduated
in 1956, becoming a hard working employee at
Durham Hospital, City of Cincinnati (Police Dispatcher),
3 years (1979), Ohio AFSCME Care Plan (Claim
Processor) 1980 and retired December 2005. She was also
Secretary elect to AFSCME Local 250 (1975-1980) and
traveled extensively throughout the US to conferences
and conventions; was also active with the Coalition Black
Trade Unionist (1975-2008).
Gennie came into an extended illness at U.C. Hospital,
causing her to reside at Indian Springs Home until death,
July 4, 2014. She loved to snap and take your picture and
cook. Her sweet potato pies will go down in history with
family and friends. She loved family, friends and grandchildren
dearly, and always greeted you with a smile.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter,
Janean Ford; brother, Paul White (Deborah); three grandchildren,
Antwone, Malcolm and Shayla Ford; two greatgrandchildren,
Londoyn and Gabrielle Ford; and a host of
other relatives and friends.
